Martinez prosecuted ex-husband of holdout juror 17. They married day before his 2000 sentencing. </span><br />
<br />
<br />
I wonder if they've looked into the fact that she had ties to the Arias family through her current husband also? Granted myspace isn't used much anymore but he was friends with some of her family members so that should have been a disqualification also. <br />
<br />
<br />
There is enough evidence to prove this woman lied to get on this jury. Her own personal vendetta against Juan Martinez and a anti DP stance. The 11 jurors initial remarks. People like her will continue to throw our system into turmoil unless we prosecute them when we find them. <br />
<br />
This woman had an agenda. The 11 jurors who said she had bias from the start, wouldn't deliberate, called the DP revenge and at the end one juror said it seemed more like it was a "pride" thing with her ~ they picked up on the TRUE agenda of this woman! <br />
<br />
They didn't know her ex husband, the father of her two children, was prosecuted by Juan Martinez! They just knew that she was biased and that she would not deliberate!<br />
<br />
The verdict cannot be changed now, but the judge erred in not excusing this non deliberating juror. And, the scumbag defense knew of the conflict of interest the entire time.<br />
<br />
What's left to do? Prosecute the lying, scheming scumbag. Fernbank Museum of Natural History (<a href="http://www.fernbankmuseum.org/">fernbankmuseum.org</a>) will host a Spring EGG-stravaganza on March 28 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. This festive event is the perfect way for families to welcome in spring with opportunities to meet live baby animals, find prize-filled eggs, play fun games, participate in special activities and more. <br />
<br />
Instead of a traditional egg hunt, this year Fernbank is offering a new format, inviting guests to enjoy a twist on the popular springtime activity. Visitors are invited to bring baskets to collect a variety of treat-filled eggs as they participate in activities, games and more.<br />
<br />
Sam’s Path Petting Zoo will be celebrating spring in Fernbank’s Great Hall with baby animals that will include ducklings, piglets, baby goats, a lamb, a Flemish giant rabbit and a muntjac deer.* Ages four and up are welcome to pet the animals under parental supervision.<br />
<br />
“Live animals provide an exciting way for children to learn in unexpected ways,” said Lynn Anders, Fernbank’s Animal Programs Educator. “We’re also pleased to welcome back the charismatic animal ambassadors from Sam’s Path Petting Zoo once again.”<br />
<br />
In addition to the animals, the day will feature an egg drop obstacle course, spring-themed temporary tattoos, tic-tac-toe and a game of bird bingo.<br />
<br />
Fernbank’s new Spring EGG-stravaganza is included with museum admission and free for members. This year’s event does not require timed tickets, but advanced reservations are recommended. Tickets are $18 for adults, $17 for students and seniors, $16 for children ages 3-12, and free for toddlers and museum members. IMAX tickets are $13 for adults, $12 for students and seniors, $11 for children 12 and younger, and $8 for Museum members. Upgrade to a Value Pass (includes IMAX and Museum admission) for the best value. (See Value Pass prices at <a href="https://www.blogger.com/www.fernbankmuseum.org">fernbankmuseum.org</a>.)<br />

<br />
Dear Younger Me -<br />
<br />
The guarantee of safety in a battering relationship can never be based upon a promise from the perpetrator, no matter how heartfelt.<br />
<br />
You can get caught in a trap of catering to him, trying to please him but no matter what you do, it will never be enough. He will just keep coming up with more demands because he believes his needs are your responsibility, until you feel drained down to nothing.<br />
<br />
Physical aggression by a man toward you is abuse, even if it happens only once. If he raises a fist; punches a hole in the wall; throws things at you; blocks your way; restrains you; grabs, pushes, or pokes you; or threatens to hurt you, that’s physical abuse<br />
<br />
Don’t see yourself through the eyes of those who don’t value you. Know your worth even if they don’t. You deserve better. A new giant screen film adventure takes audiences on an extraordinary journey into unseen worlds and hidden dimensions beyond our normal vision to uncover the mysteries of things too fast, too slow, too small or simply invisible. On Friday, March 6 Fernbank Museum of Natural History’s IMAX® Theatre will premiere <b><i>MYSTERIES OF THE UNSEEN WORLD</i></b>, an original production by National Geographic Entertainment and Days End Pictures, narrated by Forest Whitaker.<br />
<b><br /></b>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0.1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; mso-margin-top-alt: .01gd; mso-para-margin-bottom: .01gd; mso-para-margin-left: 0in; mso-para-margin-right: 0in; text-indent: 0.3in;">
<b><i>MYSTERIES OF THE UNSEEN WORLD</i></b> uses innovative high-speed and time-lapse photography, electron microscopy, and nanotechnology,<b> </b>to transport audiences to an enthralling secret world of nature, events, and breathtaking phenomena not visible to the naked eye.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0.1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; mso-margin-top-alt: .01gd; mso-para-margin-bottom: .01gd; mso-para-margin-left: 0in; mso-para-margin-right: 0in; text-indent: 0.3in;">

“The premise of this new giant screen film experience is looking at the world through a variety of imaging technologies that allow audiences to see beyond what they can with the naked eye and gain a new vision of the world around them,” said producer Jini Dürr. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0.1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; mso-margin-top-alt: .01gd; mso-para-margin-bottom: .01gd; mso-para-margin-left: 0in; mso-para-margin-right: 0in; text-indent: 0.3in;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0.1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; mso-margin-top-alt: .01gd; mso-para-margin-bottom: .01gd; mso-para-margin-left: 0in; mso-para-margin-right: 0in; text-indent: 0.3in;">
<b><i><u>INVISIBLE:</u></i></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0.1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; mso-margin-top-alt: .01gd; mso-para-margin-bottom: .01gd; mso-para-margin-left: 0in; mso-para-margin-right: 0in; text-indent: 0.3in;">
We see only a fraction of the millions of wavelengths in the vast electromagnetic spectrum--the rainbow of light waves called visible light. The film shows audiences what it would be like if we had infrared vision like a mosquito, or the ability to see through ultraviolet light like a bee. Audiences also experience X-ray vision and gain firsthand insights about what Gamma rays, microwaves and radio waves show us.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0.1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; mso-margin-top-alt: .01gd; mso-para-margin-bottom: .01gd; mso-para-margin-left: 0in; mso-para-margin-right: 0in; text-indent: 0.3in;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0.1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; mso-margin-top-alt: .01gd; mso-para-margin-bottom: .01gd; mso-para-margin-left: 0in; mso-para-margin-right: 0in; text-indent: 0.3in;">
<b><i><u>TOO SLOW:</u></i></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0.1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; mso-margin-top-alt: .01gd; mso-para-margin-bottom: .01gd; mso-para-margin-left: 0in; mso-para-margin-right: 0in; text-indent: 0.3in;">
Time-lapse images capture mundane events that happen too slowly for humans to perceive. The film shows plants creeping toward the sun and astonishingly complex “slime mold” searching for food. On a grander scale, time-lapse allows audiences our planet in motion—from the vast and relentless sweep of nature to the restless movement of humanity. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0.1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; mso-margin-top-alt: .01gd; mso-para-margin-bottom: .01gd; mso-para-margin-left: 0in; mso-para-margin-right: 0in; text-indent: 0.3in;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0.1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; mso-margin-top-alt: .01gd; mso-para-margin-bottom: .01gd; mso-para-margin-left: 0in; mso-para-margin-right: 0in; text-indent: 0.3in;">
<b><i><u>TOO FAST:</u></i></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0.1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; mso-margin-top-alt: .01gd; mso-para-margin-bottom: .01gd; mso-para-margin-left: 0in; mso-para-margin-right: 0in; text-indent: 0.3in;">
High-speed cameras do the opposite of time-lapse, revealing secrets from the super-fast world of nature. The film shows slow motion sequences of events that happen too quickly for human perception: a rattlesnake strike; drum cymbals reverberating; a Eurasian Eagle Owl flexing its wings; a basilisk lizard running on the surface of water; popcorn popping; lightning rising upwards from the ground as well as striking from the sky.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0.1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; mso-margin-top-alt: .01gd; mso-para-margin-bottom: .01gd; mso-para-margin-left: 0in; mso-para-margin-right: 0in; text-indent: 0.3in;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0.1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; mso-margin-top-alt: .01gd; mso-para-margin-bottom: .01gd; mso-para-margin-left: 0in; mso-para-margin-right: 0in; text-indent: 0.3in;">
<b><i><u>TOO SMALL:</u></i></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0.1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; mso-margin-top-alt: .01gd; mso-para-margin-bottom: .01gd; mso-para-margin-left: 0in; mso-para-margin-right: 0in; text-indent: 0.3in;">
The film also peers into the world of wonders too small for the human eye to see--from the minute structures on a butterfly’s wing and the tiny organisms that inhabit the human body, all the way down to nano-scale structures. See how electron microscopes create images that magnify things by as much as a million times--revealing a world that is both bizarre and beautiful. Guess which unusual image is a fruit fly’s eye, the skin of a shark, a flea on a cat, a tomato stem, an eggshell, and more.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0.1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; mso-margin-top-alt: .01gd; mso-para-margin-bottom: .01gd; mso-para-margin-left: 0in; mso-para-margin-right: 0in; text-indent: 0.3in;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0.1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; mso-margin-top-alt: .01gd; mso-para-margin-bottom: .01gd; mso-para-margin-left: 0in; mso-para-margin-right: 0in; text-indent: 0.3in;">
<b><i>MYSTERIES OF THE UNSEEN WORLD</i> </b>then moves from the familiar events of everyday life to the building blocks of matter itself. The filmmakers worked with a medical animation company to depict the atom-scale realm of nano-science and potential innovations in nanotechnology. In a complex zoom sequence, the shot moves in on a spider, then a strand of its silk, then into the silk itself where audiences see a bacterium. The camera then zooms even deeper, in on a virus on the bacterium, then into the DNA of the virus and finally into the actual atoms of the DNA. </div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">Britvic PLC launches a multi-territory partnership with the leader in adventure obstacle courses, Tough Mudder Inc., to introduce a custom obstacle course for children aged 7-12. The Fruit Shoot Mini Mudder courses offer kids a unique opportunity to make new friends, learn teamwork and tackle their very own challenge. Each course is a mile long, consisting of four laps around a loop featuring exhilarating obstacles designed especially for children, including:</span><br />

<div id="yui_3_16_0_1_1424607005028_1753" style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', HelveticaNeue, helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15.0000009536743px; line-height: 24.0000019073486px; margin-bottom: 1.1em;">
<span style="font-size: 15.0000009536743px; line-height: 24.0000019073486px;">Today we learn that the daughter of the deceased, Kristal Meyers told police later that a 6-foot-tall man got out and warned: "I'm gonna come back for you and your daughter."</span></div>
<div id="yui_3_16_0_1_1424607005028_1751" style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', HelveticaNeue, helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15.0000009536743px; line-height: 24.0000019073486px; margin-bottom: 1.1em;">
The suspect, Erich Nowsch is about 5-foot-3 and 100 pounds. BIG difference.</div>
<div id="yui_3_16_0_1_1424607005028_1751" style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', HelveticaNeue, helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15.0000009536743px; line-height: 24.0000019073486px; margin-bottom: 1.1em;">
<span style="font-size: 15.0000009536743px; line-height: 24.0000019073486px;">NO ONE calls 911. Instead Mom goes directly home to drop off her daughter and get her armed son in order to hunt this guy down.</span><br />
<br />
There is a police station located about two miles away from where the "road rage" incident happened. Why didn't Kristal Meyers drive there when first confronted rather than to her own home?</div>
<div id="yui_3_16_0_1_1424607005028_1751" style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', HelveticaNeue, helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15.0000009536743px; line-height: 24.0000019073486px; margin-bottom: 1.1em;">
<span style="font-size: 15.0000009536743px; line-height: 24.0000019073486px;">We also learn that </span><span style="font-size: 15.0000009536743px; line-height: 24.0000019073486px;">Nowsch told his friends he thought the people in the car in the school parking lot were looking at him, and said he called a friend with the silver Audi to come and pick him up, according to the report.</span></div>
<div id="yui_3_16_0_1_1424607005028_1809" style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', HelveticaNeue, helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15.0000009536743px; line-height: 24.0000019073486px; margin-bottom: 1.1em;">
Nowsch displayed a handgun and .45-caliber ammunition to his friends and said he started shooting because he thought he saw a gun being pointed at him from the green car, according to the report.</div>
<div id="yui_3_16_0_1_1424607005028_1809" style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', HelveticaNeue, helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15.0000009536743px; line-height: 24.0000019073486px; margin-bottom: 1.1em;">
<span style="font-size: 15.0000009536743px; line-height: 24.0000019073486px;">"Got those kids," he told his friends, according to the report. "They were after me, and I got them."</span><br />
<br />
Next we go to the "stand-off" with the police where Erich was allowed to get high before he surrendered. Is that Standard Operating Procedure? Nowsch atty is trying to get his confession thrown out because.......wait for it.....he was under the influence of drugs.<br />
<span style="font-size: 15.0000009536743px; line-height: 24.0000019073486px;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: 15.0000009536743px; line-height: 24.0000019073486px;">We also learn that Tammy Meyers, who was described as a dedicated nurse who selflessly helped others in need was NOT a nurse as the family has claimed on numerous occasions. Why lie about that?</span><br />
<span style="font-size: 15.0000009536743px; line-height: 24.0000019073486px;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: 15.0000009536743px; line-height: 24.0000019073486px;">As to the GoFundMe site, why were the family members asking for funds to help with her burial when she was cremated for free?</span></div>
<div id="yui_3_16_0_1_1424607005028_1803" style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', HelveticaNeue, helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15.0000009536743px; line-height: 24.0000019073486px; margin-bottom: 1.1em;">
Am I the only one who feels there are too many missing pieces to this story? Why has the family of the deceased has changed their story so often? I think there's still more to this story than what we have already heard. Stay tuned boys and girls.</div>

<div style="border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #3f4549; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #3f4549; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
The story of the road rage incident that happened in Las Vegas recently gets" curiouser and curiouser."</div>
<div style="border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #3f4549; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
Initially we are told that the victim Tammy Meyers takes her daughter for a nighttime driving lesson in a parking lot. So far so good but then we learn that this lesson was taking place around 11 PM. Is it just me or does that strike anyone else as being odd? </div>
<div style="border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #3f4549; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
We then learn that Meyers is driving home and someone speeds by her. Her 15 year old daughter leans across to the driver's side and honks the horn. The other car stops. Someone gets out and threatens Meyers and her daughter. Frightened, Meyers drives away and goes home.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #3f4549; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
Myers drops off her daughter and convinces her son (who wanted to call 911) to go with her to look for the guy from the driving incident. He takes his 9 mm with him.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #3f4549; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
You heard me right, they left the safety of their home, armed and looking for a fight. </div>
<div style="border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #3f4549; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
According to the original version, Meyers and her son went looking for the vehicle, a grey or silver, four door sedan. They locate the car they believe was involved and follow it. They didn't get the license plate number and call the police instead she goes home where she is confronted by the "unknown" driver. </div>
<div style="border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #3f4549; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
A shootout occurs and Meyers is killed.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #3f4549; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
One would ask, how was it that this unknown driver was able to locate their home? Turns out the shooter, Erich Nowsch, Jr went to school with Myers oldest son. The family claims that they had tried to help him from time to time. Which begs the question, why was it that little sis and big brother didn't say to the cops, "Erich killed my Mom. Erich lives just up the street from us." Why indeed. Instead the driver is "unidentified" and the police release a composite picture of the suspect?</div>
<div style="border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #3f4549; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
Today we learn that Nowsch claims that Myers was the aggressor saying he saw someone in their car waving a gun out the window at him.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #3f4549; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
Even Mark Gergos and I agree that this doesn't sound like a case of road rage.</div>

Under the helm of two-time Academy Award®-nominated director Greg MacGillivray (<i>The Living Sea, Dolphins, Everest</i>), MacGillivray Freeman Films brings its legendary giant-screen storytelling to one of the most enormous and vastly fascinating creatures on earth.<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Narrated by two-time Golden Globe nominee Ewan McGregor and presented by Pacific Life, <b><i>Humpback Whales</i></b> is an immersive ocean adventure that invites audiences to dive head-first into the mysterious realm of these 55-foot, 50-ton aquatic mammals. In a splashing, musical mix of stunning imagery, underwater splendor and scientific exploration, the film asks the compelling question: what might life be like from a humpback’s point of view. Once feared as monsters, and very nearly hunted to extinction, today humpbacks are in the midst of a slow but remarkable recovery.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
“People have a natural fascination with whales, whether it is because of their size, their intelligence or their mystery,” said Becky Facer, Fernbank’s environmental programs manager. “The popularity of last year’s special exhibition <b><i>Whales: Giants of the Deep</i></b> proved just that. This IMAX® film is a perfect follow-up, highlighting one of the largest and most breathtaking whale species through mesmerizing cinematography. <b><i>Humpback Whales</i></b> dives deep into the world of whales to discover what makes them so captivating.”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Set in the spectacular waters of Alaska, Hawaii and the remote islands of Tonga, this ocean adventure offers audiences an up-close look at how these whales communicate, sing, feed, play and take care of their young. Join a team of researchers as they unlock the secrets of the humpback and find out why humpbacks are the most acrobatic of all whales, why they sing their haunting songs, and why these intelligent animals migrate up to 10,000 miles round-trip every year.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
“Whales are awesome animals,” says director, Greg MacGillivray. “They are critical to the ecological health and survival of the ocean, and since they are among the largest animals to ever live on earth, there is no better subject for audiences to experience life-size on the giant screen.” </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Adds executive producer Tennyson Oyler, VP of Brand Management for Pacific Life: “Humpback whales are at the center of an environmental story that offers great promise. With the end of commercial whaling, humpbacks are steadily recovering from near extinction. This film transports audiences into their mysterious world for a close-up look at how truly remarkable these animals really are.”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<b><i>Humpback Whales</i></b> marks the prolific large-format film company’s first film focused exclusively on whales, following such giant-screen hits as <i>The Living Sea, Dolphins,</i> <i>Coral Reef Adventure </i>and <i>To The Arctic</i>. The<span style="color: red;"> </span>MacGillivray Freeman Films<span style="color: red;"> </span>team took it as an occasion to apply all of their cumulative cinematic experience to the telling of one of the most compelling wildlife stories of our time: how humpbacks were brought back from the brink of destruction to set off a new wave of scientific discovery and human fascination with their one-of-a-kind, gargantuan beauty. <b><i>Humpback Whales</i></b><i> </i>is the third film to come out under MacGillivray Freeman’s One World One Ocean series, following <i>To The Arctic </i>and <i>Journey to the South Pacific.</i></div>

<div class="Default" style="line-height: 150%;">
<br /></div>
<div class="Default" style="line-height: 150%;">
<span style="font-family: "Calibri","sans-serif";">Visitors can walk through a re-created Colombian forest in the <b>Poison in Nature</b> dioramas as they learn about poisonous insects and animals that use poison as protection. While plants produce toxins primarily to protect against being eaten, animals often make poison to deter predators and capture prey. Visitors will explore adaptations and encounter live species, including golden poison frogs. They’ll also learn that many familiar foods that we encounter daily — cinnamon, chili peppers, coffee, and tea — owe their taste, smell, or stimulant effect to defensive chemicals that can be toxic in large doses.</span></div>
<div class="Default" style="line-height: 150%;">
<br /></div>
<div class="Default" style="line-height: 150%;">
<span style="font-family: "Calibri","sans-serif";">The exhibition’s <b>Poison in Myth and Legend</b> section explores how poison has impacted the stories that have shaped cultures. There was a time when magic— not science —was widely used to explain poisonings or sicknesses, a time when the lines between poison, magic, and disease were often blurred. Not surprisingly, poisonous plants and other toxins can be found at the core of countless fairy tales and legends from around the world. And some of the most unlikely often contain kernels of truth. Viewers will have the chance to glance into the Mad Hatter’s tea party from Lewis Carroll’s <i>Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland</i>, encounter the trio of witches from William Shakespeare’s <i>Macbeth,</i> and explore how poisons impacted the <i>Harry Potter</i> series through the use of antidotes. Visitors will also be able to examine an “enchanted” book that resembles an ancient botanical volume. Animations of well-known poisonous plant species, including belladonna and monkshood, “magically” appear with each turn of the page along with origin myths and annotations explaining how these plants were used in the past.</span><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; line-height: 150%;"> </span></div>
<div class="Default" style="line-height: 150%;">
<br /></div>
<div class="Default" style="line-height: 150%;">
<span style="font-family: "Calibri","sans-serif";">Just as the source of disease was mysterious for most of human history, so was cause of death — especially those involving poison, which in many cases was difficult to detect. A gallery in the exhibition’s <b>Villains and Victims</b> section considers some of history’s most notorious poisoners and poisonings that still puzzle us today, offering a glimpse of the challenges of detecting poison. Visitors can explore some of the famous stories that have made poison such a prominent evil. Find out if that apple really could have poisoned Snow White, and learn about the possible fates of historical figures ranging from Napoleon, to Cleopatra, to Ponce de Leon. </span></div>
<div class="Default" style="line-height: 150%;">

<div class="Default" style="line-height: 150%;">
<b><i><span style="font-family: "Calibri","sans-serif";">The Power of Poison</span></i></b><span style="font-family: "Calibri","sans-serif";"> will reveals how experts undertake the role of <b>Detecting Poisons</b> in a live show that explores the ways that poisons affect the body. Additionally, an iPad game will let visitors play detective by finding clues about various toxins and poisonous creatures as they review victims’ symptoms to help solve three puzzling cases of accidental poisonings. </span></div>
<div class="Default" style="line-height: 150%;">
<br /></div>
<div class="Default" style="line-height: 150%;">
<span style="font-family: "Calibri","sans-serif";">Finally, in <b>Poison for Good</b> the exhibition takes a closer look at how poisons have helped society through breakthroughs in medicine and prevention methods. The field of toxicology was born out of a specific and urgent need — to detect poisons and prevent illness or death. Over the past century, advances in cell biology have allowed scientists to discover different ways poisons affect human cells and figure out how to use that power for restoring health. Today, plant and animal toxins are being studied as sources for potential ingredients for life-saving new drugs. Many are surprising, including the saliva of vampire bats, which contains an anticlotting agent that could protect stroke patients from blood clots in the brain. </span></div>

<div class="Default" style="line-height: 150%;">
<span style="font-family: "Calibri","sans-serif";">Fernbank Museum has also created a <b>Story Corner</b>, which will offer younger children an opportunity to role play inspired by literature and fairy tales highlighted in the exhibition. The <b>Story Corner</b> will include puppets, costumes, plush animals and a variety of fairy tale props that bring the myths and legends of the exhibition to life.</span></div>

<br />
ATLANTA, December 17, 2014 – Fernbank Museum of Natural History (fernbankmuseum.org) announces a New Year’s celebration appropriate for the entire family. On Wednesday, December 31 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Fernbank will host games, a craft, a resolution station, DJ Willy Wow and a balloon drop. The event, celebrated at noon instead of midnight, caters to youngsters who cannot always celebrate past their bedtime.<br />
<br />
At noon, guests will be invited to toast to the Noon Year with their very own “mocktail” made from GoGo Squeeze Applesauce as over 2,000 balloons cascade from the ceiling of Fernbank’s Great Hall. DJ Willy Wow will lead the countdown to the Noon Year, along with hosting games and dancing throughout the event.<br />
<br />
It would not be a proper New Year’s celebration without party hats, and guests will be able to craft their very own using cups, tinsel and twine. As guests celebrate the Noon Year, they will also be invited to learn about New Year’s traditions from around the world through a special matching game. The event will also include a festive New Year’s Eve-themed dinosaur photo-stop.<br />
<br />
To round out the event, families will have the opportunity to share their resolutions at a special “resolution station,” where they will be encouraged to take a selfie to share on social media using #FernbankMuseum.<br />
<br />
Museum tickets, which also include special exhibitions Winter Wonderland and Goose Bumps! The Science of Fear, are $18 for adults, $17 for students and seniors, $16 for children ages 3-12 and free for children aged 2 and under. Value Pass tickets, which include Museum admission and one IMAX film, are $26 for adults, $24 for students and seniors, $22 for children ages 3-12, free for children aged 2 and under and $8 for members. The Museum is located at 767 Clifton Road NE in Atlanta. Parking is free. For tickets, call 404.929.6400 or visit <a href="http://www.fernbankmuseum.org/">www.fernbankmuseum.org</a>.<br />

A few years ago I had a student in my class who saw racism behind every corner. His seat was on the aisle which meant he was a row leader. Row leaders were responsible for passing papers and other material down the row to his team mates. Row leaders were also responsible for making sure all material was handed back at the end class so I could collect these things in an organized fashion. </div>
</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #141823; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, 'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.3199996948242px; margin-bottom: 6px;">

<div style="background-color: white; color: #141823; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, 'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.3199996948242px; margin-bottom: 6px;">
<span style="line-height: 19.3199996948242px;">When I would hand things to the row leaders I would say "Please hand this down to your team mates." At the end of class I would thank the row leaders for their help. I always used please and thank you to model appropriate behavior and respect.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #141823; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, 'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.3199996948242px; margin-bottom: 6px;">

<div style="background-color: white; margin-bottom: 6px;">
<span style="color: #141823; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, lucida grande, tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.3199996948242px;">When I would ask this particular student to hand things down to his team mates he would say, "You just asking me to do this cause you're racist." If he didn't have a pencil or a pen, he'd say, "I don't got nothing to write with cause this racist school is oppressing me. School is supposed to be free you know." I would always provide him or anyone else with free pens or pencils but still I'd have to hear his spiel. It seemed he was looking for attention and hoping to get some laughs from his classmates with his comments.</span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; margin-bottom: 6px;">
<span style="color: #141823; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, lucida grande, tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.3199996948242px;"><br /></span></span></div>

I felt he was trying to get my goat and I was trying to extinguish the behavior by ignoring it. After a week or two it finally got to me. So one day after I handed out the material for that particular class I knelt near his desk and asked him to step into the hall. </span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; margin-bottom: 6px;">
<span style="color: #141823; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, lucida grande, tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.3199996948242px;"><br /></span></span></div>

"SQUEEZE me I think she wants to see me." he said to his classmates in attempt to bring attention to himself.</span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; margin-bottom: 6px;">
<span style="color: #141823; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, lucida grande, tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.3199996948242px;">Once out in the hall I told him that I was sorry. This kind of threw him. It was probably the last thing he expected and he certainly couldn't figure out why I was sorry. </span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; margin-bottom: 6px;">
<span style="color: #141823; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, lucida grande, tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.3199996948242px;"><br /></span></span></div>

<div style="background-color: white; margin-bottom: 6px;">
<span style="color: #141823; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, lucida grande, tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.3199996948242px;">Memories of this young man came rushing back to me recently when I heard Michelle Obama cite an alleged example of racism at a Target Store. Empress Michelle recants how a "RACIST" woman asked her to help get something down off a shelf because the woman supposedly believed that Michelle worked there. (What gave it away the Secret Service guys talking into their wrists?) Obviously the ONLY reason SHE was asked to help get that item off a high shelf was because SHE is BLACK. </span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; margin-bottom: 6px;">
<span style="color: #141823; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, lucida grande, tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.3199996948242px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; margin-bottom: 6px;">
<span style="color: #141823; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, lucida grande, tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.3199996948242px;">Great story, unless you happen to remember when she first told this story back in 2013. In this recounting of the story, a woman asked Michelle for help because Michelle was taller and thus able to reach the item in the detergent aisle. The woman also used the words "EXCUSE ME" before asking Michelle to do her a favor. </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #141823; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, lucida grande, tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.3199996948242px;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #141823; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, lucida grande, tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.3199996948242px;">This incident must have been a milestone in the Empress' life. I suppose now that she has had time to think it over she realized that her act of kindness was actually her submissive reaction to overt racism. It truly amazes me that Michelle can play the victim from a simple request for help.</span></span></div>

O GOD of mercy, bless all who live in the face of acts of terrorism. Grant them courage to go about their daily living. Give them hope that one day the hostility will cease. Guard the defenseless, especially the children and the elderly, the infirm and the weak. Bring peace to their homes and faith into their hearts. Amen. <br />

Due to popular demand, the captivating giant screen film Jerusalem, presented by National Geographic Entertainment, returned to Fernbank’s IMAX® Theatre on November 21. Jerusalem has now surpassed $7 million in box office sales worldwide. This success is due in part to the film’s success at Fernbank, as the Museum has remained a top 10 grossing theatre worldwide. This special film is showing in conjunction with Fernbank’s Winter Wonderland exhibition, making the Museum the perfect place to spend the holidays. <br />
<br />
Jerusalem is a place like no other: sacred to half the people on earth; fought over more than any other site in history; conquered and destroyed, rebuilt and reinvented repeatedly over 5,000 years. Now, for the first-time ever, a new giant screen film adventure presented by National Geographic Entertainment immerses audiences in a spectacular cinematic journey—soaring high above the Holy Land and plunging deep into the vibrant Old City—so they can experience as never before the iconic sites cherished by billions. <br />
<br />
Jerusalem, now showing at Fernbank Museum of Natural History’s IMAX Theatre through February 12, is a breathtaking new film that explores on a grand scale the intersection of science, history and religion in this ancient, enigmatic place. <br />
<br />
Narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch ("Star Trek into the Darkness," PBS’s "Sherlock"), Jerusalem gives audiences a rare glimpse of the storied city, as well as exclusive access to iconic holy sites—including the Western Wall, the Dome of the Rock, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Jordan River, the Sea of Galilee, and the mountain fortress of Masada—and to little-known parts of the region. <br />
<br />
Special access is one of the unique aspects of the film. Filmmakers were granted permission to capture aerial images over the Old City of Jerusalem, and throughout the Holy Land. A strict no-fly zone has existed over the region for many years, restricting low-altitude filming. Once secured, the filmmakers launched a major campaign in both Hebrew and Arabic to notify the public weeks before filming began. <br />
“Jerusalem embodies National Geographic’s commitment to tell visually compelling stories that foster greater understanding and appreciation of world cultures, history, science and geography,” said Lisa Truitt, president of National Geographic Entertainment, the film’s distributor. <br />
<br />
"Through the unrivaled beauty, visceral nature and incredible technology of giant screen cameras, we were able to compose the images and move the camera in a way that makes you feel as if you are experiencing Jerusalem first-hand," said Daniel Ferguson, Writer/Director. "We were thrilled with the opportunity to provide audiences with the story of the Old City on this grand scale, and offer unique perspectives, aerials and access to this part of the world in a way you could never get in any other format."<br />
<br />
Jerusalem presents the story from many perspectives—interviewing a prominent archaeologist and following real-life inhabitants of the ancient city to explore the enduring appeal of this unique crossroads of civilization. <br />
<br />
With thousands of archaeological sites, Jerusalem is one of the most excavated cities on the planet, with so much more waiting to be discovered. Since 2010, the Jerusalem production team has followed several of the most impressive excavations in and around Jerusalem, documenting their progress as well as the tools used to uncover and understand the past. <br />
<br />
The film features renowned archaeologist and religious studies professor Dr. Jodi Magness of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, who explains the many layers that chronicle this important crossroads of civilizations. In the film, Dr. Magness leads a group of students through an ancient water tunnel beneath the biblical-era city of Jerusalem, which conveyed water from the Gihon Spring outside the city walls to the residents of the city in the event of a siege by an invading army. She also gives audiences a tour of excavations around the Western Wall, marveling at one of the greatest feats of engineering in the ancient world.<br />
<br />
Audiences will also meet three teenagers who call Jerusalem home—Farah Ammouri, Revital Zacharie, and Nadia Tadros—from each of the three major world religions that share the Old City. From the Damascus Gate and the Dome of the Rock, to the Western Wall and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the girls each reveal the Holy City from their own perspective.<br />
<br />
For those of the Jewish faith, Jerusalem represents their homeland. Every synagogue in the world faces Jerusalem, and three times a day, Jews pray towards the temples that once stood here above “the Kotel” or Western Wall. They believe prayers pass through the Kotel to God. <br />
<br />
For Christians, Jerusalem is the place where Jesus was arrested and sentenced to death nearby in the Garden of Gethsemane. The Via Dolorosa, or ‘Way of Sorrows,’ is said to be the path Jesus took on his way to crucifixion. <br />
<br />
For Muslims, Jerusalem is the city of the prophets. Muslims believe that Mohammed was taken on a miraculous journey from Mecca to Jerusalem where he ascended to Heaven on a ladder of light, which they associate with the “Dome of the Rock."<br />
<br />
Using the highest resolution cinematography in the world, Jerusalem captures each of these beloved places and takes audiences there as never before. For thousands of years, people of different faiths have been drawn to this Holy City. Nowhere is this more apparent than in Jerusalem.<br />
<br />
The 43-minute large format film was executive produced by the late Jake Eberts, legendary producer of movies such as “Gandhi,” “Chariots of Fire,” and “Dances with Wolves”; produced by Taran Davies, George Duffield and Daniel Ferguson; and written and directed by Daniel Ferguson. Large format industry veteran Reed Smoot, ASC, is Director of Photography<br />
.<br />
Jerusalem will show daily at Fernbank Museum of Natural History’s IMAX® Theatre from November 21, 2014 until February 12, 2015. IMAX tickets are $13 for adults, $12 for students and seniors, $11 for children 12 and younger, and $8 for Museum members. The announcement largely focuses on 10 acres of all-new outdoor experiences, environments and activities, set to open in summer 2016 along with expanded access to Fernbank Forest.<br />
<br />
The new outdoor adventure experience will occupy the 10 acres of mature woodlands behind the Museum’s terrace overlook. Fernbank’s expansion will allow visitors to experience the same level of immersive, fun and engaging programming Fernbank is already known for in a new, outdoor setting.<br />
<br />
The outdoor expansion will offer incredible new experiences for all ages as visitors explore extraordinary landscapes along with a five-story change in elevation—from dramatic vantage points high in the trees to footpaths winding through rugged, ever-changing terrain. Experiences will include dramatic tree pods, imaginative play areas, immersive ground trails, unique sensory stations, elevated adventure nets, hands-on water cycle activities, a restored wetland, and “floating” walkways.<br />
<br />
“We are thrilled to expand our offerings with this new outdoor attraction. This is a rare opportunity to connect our visitors with a truly authentic nature experience, right here inside the city," said Susan Neugent, Fernbank president and CEO. "This is the most significant development at Fernbank since the Museum opened, and we can’t wait for our visitors to experience this fun and invigorating encounter with nature."<br />
<br />
The new permanent feature highlights Fernbank’s extraordinary environmental legacy, which began 75 years ago when Trustees organized to preserve Fernbank Forest, one of America’s largest old-growth urban forests.<br />
<br />
The outdoor adventure area will open in conjunction with increased access to the 65-acre forest. Construction for the outdoor adventure will not impact Fernbank Forest, where the Museum is currently leading a research-based restoration that includes removal of more than 45 harmful invasive species and restoration of many native species that have largely disappeared.<br />
<br />
Fernbank’s outdoor expansion will be included with museum admission at no extra charge and will be free for Museum Members. To learn more about the Fernbank Forest restoration and the upcoming experience, visit <a href="http://www.fernbankmuseum.org/">www.fernbankmuseum.org</a>.<br />

<br />
DC's very own "Mayor for Life" passed away this morning at age 78.<br />
<br />
LaToya Foster, a family spokeswoman, said Barry was discharged from Howard University Hospital at around 6:30 p.m. but said she believed Barry had stayed at the hospital watching television for a time after his discharge. His driver, she said, took him to get something to eat before taking him to his home.<br />
<br />
Barry collapsed while walking into his home, Foster said. The driver called for paramedics, who took him to United Medical Center. Cora Barry came to the scene and accompanied him in the ambulance, Foster said.<br />
<br />
Barry arrived in cardiac arrest and could not be revived before expiring.<br />
<br />
Barry started out as a good politician, but overtime he became increasingly arrogant and corrupt. <br />

His fellow citizens, however, despised him and sent a delegation after him to announce, “We do not want this man to be our king.” But when he returned after obtaining the kingship … [He said] “Now as for those enemies of mine who did not want me as their king, bring them here and slay them before me” (Luke 19:12,14, 27-28).</span><br />

<div style="color: #333333; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 18px; line-height: 1.8em; margin-bottom: 24px;">
Despite the fact that the Democrats were lost on a large scale in the last election, President Obama has decided to take his "pen" and RULE by Executive Order. </div>
<div style="color: #333333; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 18px; line-height: 1.8em; margin-bottom: 24px;">
Once upon a time his highness said: <span style="line-height: 32.4000015258789px;"> </span><span style="line-height: 32.4000015258789px;">I can just suspend deportations through executive order, that’s just not the case, because there are laws on the books that Congress has passed. </span><span style="line-height: 1.8em;">we’ve got three branches of government. Congress passes the law. The executive branch’s job is to enforce and implement those laws. And then the judiciary has to interpret the laws.</span></div>
<div style="color: #333333; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 18px; line-height: 1.8em; margin-bottom: 24px;">
There are enough laws on the books by Congress that are very clear in terms of how we have to enforce our immigration system that for me to simply through executive order ignore those congressional mandates would not conform with my appropriate role as President. <span style="line-height: 32.4000015258789px;">I’m not a king. I am the head of the executive branch of government. I’m required to follow the law.</span></div>
<div style="color: #333333; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 18px; line-height: 1.8em; margin-bottom: 24px;">
<span style="line-height: 32.4000015258789px;">It appears that all that gobble-de-gook about following the law is now out the window.</span></div>
<div style="color: #333333; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 18px; line-height: 1.8em; margin-bottom: 24px;">
Obama has invited senior lawmakers to the White House for dinner Wednesday night so that he can explain his plans to use executive authority to change the nation’s immigration laws.</div>
<div style="color: #333333; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 18px; line-height: 1.8em; margin-bottom: 24px;">
His Majesty invited Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and the leaders of the congressional Asian, Black and Hispanic caucuses, but <span style="line-height: 1.8em;">did not invite Republican leaders to the meeting.</span></div>
<div style="color: #333333; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 18px; line-height: 1.8em; margin-bottom: 24px;">
<span style="line-height: 1.8em;">The Emperor's immigration order would provide illegal immigrants with the exact benefits Congress has repeatedly rejected: Social Security numbers, photo IDs and work permits--which will allow them to legally compete for the scarce number of jobs in this failing economy with Americans allowing him to fiddle while the US economy burns.</span></div>
<div style="color: #333333; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 18px; line-height: 1.8em; margin-bottom: 24px;">
<span style="line-height: 1.8em;">Then again King Obama sees all of us peasants as STUPID AMERICANS. Just ask Gruber he'll tell you. </span></div>

ATLANTA, September 16, 2014 – Fernbank Museum of Natural History will host its annual black-tie fundraising gala, A Timeless Affair 2014: The Witching Hour on Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 7 p.m. to midnight. The evening will honor the dedicated support of Maria and Ralph de la Vega. <br />
<br />
Event Chairs, Burch and Mark Hanson and Amanda and Jody Tucker, along with a stellar Planning Committee, are organizing a night of enchantment that includes live music from The Rupert’s Orchestra, a sunset cocktail hour, seated dinner with wine service and open bars, silent and live auctions, dancing and a private viewing of the fall exhibition Goose Bumps! The Science of Fear. <br />
<br />
A Timeless Affair 2014: The Witching Hour draws inspiration from this incredible new special exhibition, which examines how the body and brain work together to respond to the universal emotion of fear. The Goose Bumps exhibit features a variety of exciting, scientific and risk-free activities, including falling backwards, mysterious boxes, sudden noises and other interactive ways to safely test why we have fears.<br />
<br />
“It is truly a joy to be a part of such an influential organization that contributes so much to our community,” said event chair Burch Hanson. “We are so proud of this event, and we know that the guests at Timeless this year will have a fantastic time supporting their community.”<br />
<br />
As always, this gala will provide Atlantans with the opportunity to have an amazing time, while also furthering Fernbank Museum’s mission to educate and inspire all ages through world-class cultural and scientific programming. <br />
<br />
“We are so grateful to serve the community through Fernbank Museum,” said event chair Amanda Tucker. “It is our hope that you will come experience this special cornerstone of the Atlanta community during this special event.”<br />
