Back to School - January 2009

This is my first day back at school. Today was a teacher work day. I wrote my lesson plans, went to the faculty meeting, and then went to the department meeting.

The best thing to happen was a conversation I had with Mrs. Crane, one of the Guidance Counselors. Darryl had talked to me about looking at a job in St. Mary's Georgia. I am trying not to get too worked up about the whole thing but I did talk to Mrs. Crane who used to live there. Sure enough she told me that if Darryl shot her his resume she'd send it to her husband who might be able to help him get a job. YIPPPPPEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! I'm keping my fingers crossed

I wrote an essay today for the following contest.

No clue if it went through because the site says done but in the url it says error. I resubmitted it and I got a thank you so who knows. Either they received it once or they received it twice.

I still don't have my car back. That's OK because I'd rather know that the breaks work then to have it without working breaks. The bad part is that I have to get Darryl to drive me to work tomorrow. I say bad because I had a heck of a time waking him up this morning.

I had to get him up to take me to Kroger. We bought two of those white spiral outdoor Christmas trees for $6 a piece. We bought a lot of salad to eat with dinner this week. After Kroger I had him take me to CVS. I will write what I bought there tomorrow and put it in my Thrifty Maven blog. I'm really trying with that thing. I keep posting things I think people might be interested in like recalls, recipes, coupons, etc. and I haven't even had one visitor. How sad.

YIPEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!! Who knew? Thank you so much for selecting my blog. I truly appreciate that.

Today was another damp and foggy day. We even had a severe fog alert until 10 this morning.

Darryl didn't wake up until just before noon today. When he got up we went to the library where I checked out a book about blogging as well as four audio books. They were: The Ultimate Weight Solution by Dr. Phil McGraw, Fleeced by Dick Morris, Real Life by Dr. Phil McGraw, and Hot, Flat, and Crowded by Thomas L Friedman. We also picked up several more DVDs. On the way back we dropped off four boxes of stuff to the Habitat for Humanity over in Cartersville.

I also packed up a few boxes of things for our move. Who knows how that's going to go but at least Darryl's excited about the idea of a new job. He's even talking about us moving again, this time to St. Mary's Georgia.

I worked some more on getting my coupon notebook organized.

Gray Friday

Darryl was supposed to have an online consultation this morning with those employment people. They of course didn't call. He was excited about a job he saw down in St. Mary's Georgia but I'm not going to get myself all worked up.

I'm glad Darryl had my car taken in. I knew something was wrong with the brakes and they said there was some sort of leak. It's getting fixed right now. It will take about $250 to fix that and look at the transmission. I hope my car is fixed by Friday.

As far as thriftymaven goes I received another comment but again it's some company attaching themselves to my post, basically spam. How frustrating.
