Melissa Dilan-Hernandez A Fool For Love?

Shakespeare tells us that the course of true love never did run smooth and this is true of the star-crossed romance of Melissa Dilan-Hernandez and her "soul mate" TJ.

When last we met the couple the appeared on the Dr. Phil show were Melissa hoped to "set the record straight" and shore up the unlawful sex with certain minors case that she faces.

Melissa proclaimed that when she first met T.J. on Facebook two years ago, he told her that he was 18. She claims that they had an instant connection. “He told me that I was cute, and then I told him, ‘Send me a message,’” she explains.

Even after she learned T.J. actual age she decided to continue the relationship because they were already emotionally attached. As the adult in this case, it was her responsibility not only to say no to the sexual relationship. Even worse SHE decided to have a child but because she has an emotional need to justify her crime she proclaims that 'we' agreed to have a baby - as a minor.  I thought a woman is charge of her own body and therefore makes the final decision.

“Some say that our love is wrong, but our personal belief is that it doesn’t really matter how old you are; love is love.”

Ah love, so fleeting, so temporal and this is true even for these star-crossed lovers. You see after the Dr. Phil show there was trouble in paradise. I suppose it is unfair to say that the trouble hadn't bubbled up to the surface before the show after all we learned that the police had been summoned to their motel room on seven separate occasions.

On the In Love and Legal show Melissa learned that TJ .was the one who actually went to the police station to fill out a report against Melissa. She also learned that he might not be so willing to wait fifteen years for her to serve out her sentence.

On Melissa's Twitter account she pondered

"How can someone kiss another in public a few hours after they tell you they love you? Do they feel any remorse? So sad."

It didn't take TJ long to move on which no doubt frustrated Melissa. I believe she was hoping that he was a willing victim in hopes that the courts would deal with her with leniency.

We learn the relationship is still volatile when she posts: "Ever been with someone that says he/she loves you, but lies constantly and when caught in it they turn aggressive?"

When others question her choice of dating a 15 1/2 year old boy Melissa's fall back response seems to be that Dr Phil edited the show to make her look bad. This was a charge she had even made while on the show but Dr. Phil let her know that if he really wanted to make her look bad he would share the other things he knew about her, pointed to the card, and she dropped it. On social networking sites though, she's free to spin her story as she pleases with little regard for the facts.

Melissa is quick to attack TJ's character as she insists that she wanted TJ to complete school but he never signed up to take the GED. Obviously Melissa is not knowledgeable about the drop-out statistics for young people who become parents in their teens. I find this interesting especially since she claims to have a BS degree in Education.

Melissa's fall-back seems to be in the role of damsel in distress as she tells a new young man she meets online that TJ dropped by destroying things, including her phone, threatening her by saying that if she didn't get back with him. She lets him know that she can't risk anymore domestic calls to the cops.

Meanwhile Melissa laments the fact that TJ is looking for love on Craigslist. She picks the ad apart bit by bit like a scorned lover. Could it be that she has lost her hold over him?

The sad part is that there are four children who are suffering in this whole drama. Melissa lost two of her children and isn't allowed to see them. Do you realize how difficult it is for a mother to lose custody?

When I tried speaking with Melissa for this article her tweets were more in line with personal attacks rather than substantive replies. She even asked her new potential suitor to attack not just me but others who questioned her wisdom in this situation.

Clearly Melissa exhibits many of the traits of a sociopath such as failing to recognize the rights of others, a grandiose sense of self, lacking the sense of personal boundaries, and is indifferent to the devastation she caused. She is not concerned about wrecking others' lives and dreams and she certainly does not accept any personal blame rather she blames others, even for acts she obviously committed.

Entering Sweepstakes On Pinterest

Back in the Sixties, Bob Dylan warned us that the times they are a changin’ and that’s true about many things including sweeping.  If you want to win sweepstakes then you have to be flexible in the ways you enter sweepstakes.
When I first heard of Pinterest I had no clue whatsoever what it was.  When I saw that I could get an extra entry by following someone on Pinterest I decided to create an account and following them.   I soon learned that some sweepstakes were actually entered by creating a “board” so I decided it was time for me to learn more about the site.

Pinterest is a virtual pinboard to organize and share the things you love.  Users can add their own content, “repin” content from the “boards” of others as well as content outside of Pinterest and “Pin It” to one of their boards.
How do you create a Pinterest account?  That’s easy.  To make a Pinterest account, visit pinterest.com. Select the button "Join Pinterest" at the top of the page.  You will be required to create a Pinterest account name, password, and associated email.  You can also register via Facebook or Twitter.

How do you create a pinboard?  You can create as few or as many boards as you like.  To create a new board, click Add+ on the top toolbar on Pinterest, then press Create a Board. Type in a board title, choose a category, and then click Create Board when you are finished.
What is a pin?  A pin is an image added to Pinterest. A pin can be added from a website using our bookmarklet or you can upload images from your computer. A repin is adding an image you find while browsing Pinterest to your own board. When you repin an image, the user who first pinned the image also get credit.

How can you enter sweepstakes using Pinterest?  As with any other sweepstakes winning is all about following the rules. Usually sweepstakes involving Pinterest ask you to create a board with a predetermined name for that board.  The sponsor will then ask you to pin or repin a certain number of images, often asking that you tag these images with a hashtag (#).  Usually pins relate to a specific topic such as recipes or fashion. The sponsor may then ask you to email the link to your board or ask you to complete an entry form which includes a space for the link to your board.
Some sponsors have a judging aspect for pinboard entries.  If this is true be certain to read the judging criteria before you begin pinning.  I found a contest which asked that you create a board about travel and I randomly selected photos of places I wished I could visit from their website.  When I went back to make sure my entry met all requirements I realized that my board was actually being judged as to its theme.  This required me to go back and remove some pins and insert some new pins.
I’ve also noticed that several sponsors are selecting their winners based on the number of repins your pins receive.  As I have stated before I’m not big on voting contests which is essentially what this is.  Still you can request repins using Twitter, Facebook, and other social networking sites.

The odds of winning any sweepstakes depend on the number of entries.  There is a certain population of sweepers who still rely only on mailing in 3x5 cards.  There is a large segment of sweepers who devote their energy to sweepstakes that only require the entrant to complete a form and submit.  This means the odds are in your favor when you enter alternate entry sweepstakes such as Pinterest.   Entering sweepstakes using Pinterest can be time-consuming but remember the more difficult a sweepstakes is to enter, the fewer qualified entries they will receive.
Finally, remember that sweeping is NOT a job, it’s a hobby.  Enter sweepstakes for the thrill of it because if it’s not fun then you need a new hobby.

Was Crucial Evidence Missed in the Casey Anthony Trial?

In the case that never fails to enrage, we learn that the sheriff’s office's computer investigator missed a June 16, 2008 Google search for "fool-proof" suffocation methods when investigating Casey Anthony’s computer activity. It appears that the search was made on June 16, 2008 which coincidentally was the last day her daughter Caylee was seen alive.

While the Orange County Sherriff’s Department “overlooked” the search, Casey’s attorney Jose Baez’s computer expert found the search before the trial. Jose Baez, first mentioned the search in his book about the case but suggested it was George Anthony who conducted the search after Caylee drowned because he wanted to kill himself.

According to WKMG's timeline of the day Caylee was last seen, Casey was in her parents' home - as confirmed by cell phone pings - when the search was typed in at 2:51pm (which was misspelled as 'suffication').

Seconds later, the user was pointed to a website with writing that suggested: 'Poison yourself and then follow it up with suffocation' by placing 'a plastic bag over the head.'

One minute after that, a MySpace account was accessed. Casey was the only person in the house who used the social networking site.

To this day I am speechless over the NOT GUILTY verdict.  Despite a great deal of evidence pointing directly to her guilt was, the jury rejected every bit of it.  The jury was so caught up in their CSI delusions that short of seeing video tape of the actual murder they would still have found Casey not guilty in spite of this new information.

Casey was found not guilty and therefore she will NEVER be tried again for this crime.  She could get on national television and confess every detail of her crime and still she cannot be prosecuted again.  I would hope she wouldn’t follow down the path of O J Simpson and write a book entitled “If I Had Killed My Baby”.  The best we can hope for is that Casey is NEVER able to make any money from this crime.

Larry Hagman Dies From Complications Of Throat Cancer.

When I was a little girl two shows featured beautiful women who married mere mortal men but that didn’t mean that there wasn’t magic going on.  I’m talking about Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie.  I was about six years old when these shows came out and I wondered if I too had magical powers that would show themselves when I grew up.

Astronauts were heroes and it was easy to imagine that he would fall for the beautiful Jeannie in the show I Dream of Jeannie.  In the show Larry Hagman played Air Force Captain (later Major) Anthony Nelson who finds Barbara Eden, a 2,000-year-old genie and becomes her “master”.    Eventually the two fall in love and get married.

After I Dream of Jeannie, Hagman starred in two short-lived series in the 1970s, Here We Go Again. The show was  a "divorce comedy", portraying the post-divorce life of two couples. Richard and Judy, who have a son, Jeff, divorce after 17 years of marriage due to incompatibility. Jerry and Susan, who have two children, Cindy and Jan, divorce after a ten year marriage due to adultery. Richard and Susan fall in love and marry. He moves into Susan's house, which is near the homes of their ex-spouses.

In the 1971-72 season Larry Hagman starred with Donna Mills in a show called The Good Life.  The Good Life is the story of a middle-class American couple, the Millers (Hagman and Mills), who had tired of their mundane existence. However, instead of following the time-honored premise of "hitting the road" to seek adventure or engaging in a stereotypical period activity such as joining a communal farm, they decided to seek new employment as the live-in butler and cook of millionaire industrialist, Charles Dutton. He noticed that they were not particularly talented at their jobs but found them to be agreeable enough. Their limited skills most definitely were not enough for his stuffy sister Grace, however, and she constantly worked to get them fired. Dutton's teenaged son Nick was aware of what the Millers were doing in their new roles but found great humor in helping them to get away with it.

The show was cancelled at midseason and was replaced by the action drama, Emergency!  My best friend from Junior High LOVED the show Emergency and had a major crush on Randy Mantooth so I’m certain that she was thrilled with the cancellation.

In the late seventies it seemed as though EVERYONE was watching Dallas.  Everyone except me I guess.  At the time I was in my late teens and my life was spinning out of control.  I had not time or the desire to immerse myself in the family wrangling of the wealthy Ewing family.

Even when the 1980 cliffhanger season finale in which J. R. is shot by an unknown assailant captured attention worldwide, I don’t think I was able to grasp the show’s appeal.

At the beginning of the 1980–81 season, writers were told to keep the storylines away from the actors until they really found out who actually shot J. R., and it took three weeks until the culprit was revealed on November 21, 1980 in a ratings record-breaking episode.

Funny, it wasn’t until five years ago when I found the series on DVD did I decide on a lark to check it out.  That was when I finally understood why so many people loved the show.  It was difficult to see the easy going loveable Major Nelson become the evil, maniacal JR Ewing.

When TNT decided to reprise Dallas earlier this year I was actually very excited especially since Hagman would still be JR.  Could there really have been anyone else who could have played that role?

Still my husband and I wondered, would the new show have the same appeal as the old show?  Could the original characters breathe new life into their old characters?  Could the new characters appeal to the Dallas fans and also bring in a younger fan base?

We need not have worried.  The show was all that we hoped for, especially Larry.  I remember saying to my husband after one episode in particular; this show had to have Larry it wouldn’t have been the same without him.  At the end of the first season we both acknowledged that Larry was no longer a young man and wondered what the show would do without him.  We have no clue.

In 1993, Hagman starred in Staying Afloat as a down-on-his-luck former millionaire who agrees to work undercover with the FBI to maintain his playboy lifestyle. Originally ordered for two TV movies and a weekly series by NBC, the pilot movie aired in November 1993 to critical drubbing and low ratings, ending production.

In January 1997, Hagman starred in a short-lived television series titled Orleans as Judge Luther Charbonnet, which lasted only eight episodes. In 2002, he made an appearance in the fourth series of Vic Reeves ad Bob Mortimer's British comedy paenel game, Shooting Stars.  In January 2011, Hagman made a guest appearance in the seventh Season of Desperate Housewives as a new husband for Lynette Scavo's mother, Stella (played by Polly Bergen).

Hagman appeared in such feature films as The Group, Fail-Safe, Harry and Tonto, Mother, Jug & Speed, The Eagle Has Landed, Superman, Nixo andPrimary Colors.  His television work included Getting Away from It All,Sidekicks, The Return of the World's Greatest Detective, Intamate Strangers, and Checkered Flag orCrash.
He directed episodes of I Dream of Jeannie and The Good Life as well as several episoes of Dallas and In the Heat of the Night, which was the only series he directed but did not act in.
Hagman died on November 23, 2012, at Medical City Dallas Hospital in Dallas following complications fromm throat cancer.  In a statement to the Dallas Morning News, Hagman's family said: "Lary's family and close friends had joined him i Dallas for the Thanksgiving holiday.  When he passed, he was surrounded by loved ones.  It was a peaceful passing, just as he had wished for."

In Love & Illegal An Ode To The Salacious & Illicit Relationship Of Melissa Dilan-Hernandez

When I was a high school senior I developed a crush on my English teacher.  Certainly not a rare situation because many young people fancy themselves as much more mature than they truly are and believe that a certain person in authority understands them.
I can still remember dropping by his classroom the day before I was set to graduate to ask him if he’d like to attend a picnic that a few of the students and I were going to have that weekend.  It was a bold move the life of a young girl in the midst of the women’s rights infancy to ask him for a date.  Well not quite a date, more like a barely veiled attempt at a date.
I can still remember what happened next.  He picked up a pile of papers from his desk and tried to straighten them while trying to find the right words to say.
“Cathy,” he said, “While I am very flattered by your invitation, I’m afraid that would be highly inappropriate.  I do want to wish you well in all of your future endeavors though.  Thanks for stopping by but I have to get these papers graded so I can get my grades in.”
The words hung there between the two of us while I stood there wishing for a hole that would open up and swallow me.  I summoned up all my energy to walk out of the classroom with head held high instead of dashing out of the room in tears.
Looking back I know he did the right thing. It would have been very inappropriate for a young single male teacher to accept an invitation to attend a picnic that would have consisted of three girls and him.
I was reminded of this incident I watched Dr. Phil today.  Today’s show featured thirty-year-old mother of four Melissa Dilan-Hernandez.
Melissa Dilan-Hernandez was charged with unlawful sexual activity with certain minors, stemming from her relationship with her fiancé, T.J., who is 17 years old and the father of her 4-month-old child. While Melissa she still doesn’t consider their relationship a crime, she is facing up to 15 years in prison and may have to register as a sex offender.
In the episode entitled In Love & Illegal Melissa explained to Dr. Phil that she doesn't think what she did was wrong and that she feels "attacked."
"I feel so much pressure. I am not a pedophile. I want people to know who I am. I'm not a bad person," she said.
"Don't you give me your sob story, lady," Dr. Phil barked at Melissa on the Tuesday episode. "I don't buy that crap!"
What kind of 28 year old woman date 15 ½ year old boy?  Even more puzzling, what kind of 29 year old woman would agree to get PREGNANT by a 16 year old boy?  While I can easily imagine some starry-eyed teenage girl believing that a baby would bring them closer together, we are talking about a grown woman who’s had three kids of her own.
A quick Google search reveals that Dilan-Hernandez holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.  She has a couple of blogs with contain basically fodder from twitter as well as photos she hi-jacked from the internet.  Her blogs include:  mellisadilan.blogspot.com    and melissathewriter.weebly.com in which she offers her services as a ghost writer and promises web traffic.  She’s even writing a book entitled "Life is like a Box of Chocolates: An inspiring Novel.
When Dr. Phil brought TJ out we see a young man who’s faced a huge loss in his life after his mother abandoned him.  Is it any wonder that he reached out for a substitute mother?  While at times he may appear blindsided by his love for Melissa, he admits that he might not be willing to wait fifteen years for her to get out of jail.  After all fifteen years is a long time.
T.J.’s father, Ed, and stepmother, Sea, weighed in with their thoughts on the relationship.  Neither Ed nor Sea approved of the relationship but with the birth of their grandson they are trying to be supportive for the sake of the child.
Despite Melissa’s portrayal of a relationship filled with love and happiness we learn that this too is also a façade.  There are reports that they screamed and fought all the time. Indeed, the police have been called numerous times about this controversial couple.
It appears that love may not conquer everything because the couple has now broken up because he cheated on her with another girl. This bit of information was not mentioned on today's show.  As a matter if you check out Melissa’s Twitter account you may be surprised to see how quickly love flew out of the window as she hints at TJ’s criminal record.
In the end, Melissa is not likely to spend much time in jail.  Perhaps she may serve two to three years maximum. The courts tend to be sympathetic to females with babies so it is very possible, she may not get any state prison time at all

Getting Specific - A Heart Like His

Some time later, David inquired of the LORD; Should I go to one of the towns of Judah?  (2 Samuel 2:1)

Can you identify time when you acted because of a hunch rather than the confirmed will of GOD?

For much of my life I acted and reacted on a hunch rather than the confirmed will of GOD.  It was this refusal to surrender my will that leads me astray and away from His perfect will.
I was very easily turned off the path of what I knew to be right because of my own selfish inclinations. It was so easy to clutter my mind with all of my own desires and to push GOD aside.

What did you learn during these times about patience and waiting and seeking His will?

When your relationship with Christ is what it should be, you are better able to make good decisions.  I have learned to ask GOD to help me put aside my own agenda, concerns, and desires and help me cultivate a deeper, more personal, and more intimate relationship with Him

Cheating To WIN?

Sometimes the internet can be like the rabbit hole in Alice in Wonderland.  You begin by searching for one thing and suddenly you discover that you have been thrust into bewildering surroundings or situations.

Let me begin at the beginning. I was searching something about 1800Flowers when I came across this post about Ashley Owen Hill from Mississippi. Lucky Dog Rescue who felt 1-800-Flowers.com had cheated her out of the grand prize which included one year of dog food.

In the "There’s a New Bunny in Town.”  entrants were asked to submit photos of their pets wearing bunny ears and they offered prizes for the photos that got the most votes. Maria Mandel had won the voting sweepstakes with a photo of her service dog Stacy Mae. Upon winning she decided to donate her prize to Lucky Dog rescue run by Ashley Owen Hill.  This simple act of transferring the prize made the prize "null and void".

Making a prize non transferable is not an unusual stipulation in sweepstakes.   I do understand why some people were upset because it was Maria's intent to help a pet rescue operation. As a matter of fact 1800Flowers received a number of posts on their social media sites from people who felt that the prize should be awarded.  In the end Lucky Dog Rescue received the prize.

At the end of the original post were a couple of comments which spoke in a disparaging fashion about Ms. Hill and I wondered what that was about.  Was the person who commented a frienemy?  Was the poster someone with a bad case of sour grapes?  Could it be that the accusations held some truth.  I just didn't know but with a few clicks of the mouse I was off and searching for the back-story.

This time we learn of accusations of cheating in the Chase Community Giving Contest.   There was a concern that a large percentage of votes were came from seemingly fake accounts with no activity or content outside of voting to receive the cash prizes.  Interestingly enough the name  Ashley Owen Hill and her Luck Dog organization comes up in the discussion.

The post notes that  comments are in Spanish, Portuguese, Greek and Turkish, which is obviously highly suspicious for an English-only.

The contest centers around having non-profit organizations make a pitch for a program or initiative and solicit votes on Facebook through the Chase Community Giving App, with the top organizations receiving up to $250,000 for gathering the most votes.

In 2010 Invisible Children won $1 million as the winner of the Chase Community Giving contest on Facebook. However, in the contest's last few hours, many newly created profiles voted for The Isha Foundation, some of them with dubious-looking names, includinglike Kgtgh Fkghssad, who commented “ftdre".   Several other profiles with more realistic names voted for Isha, though these accounts have had few if any friends or activity prior to voting.

This very same cheating pattern has caused me to forgo entering voting contests.  I used to enter them and put in a great amount of work begging and pleading for people to vote for my submissions.

I remember getting within 50 votes of a vote leader in a big contest and the next morning I learned that I was suddenly 500 votes behind.   Another time I discovered that I was competing against a blogger who was offering entries into her blog contest for daily votes.  The winner of her blog contest would receive a $100 gift card.  Small investment for a prize that was valued at over $5,000.

I was hesitant to report the problems because I didn't want to appear to be suffering from a big case of sour grapes.   After that I simply swore off voting contests.  Not only does it promote a transactional relationship with your friends and associates but in the face of  robo votes and other nefarious actions it hardly seems worth the effort.

What do you think?

If I Were The Devil

Long time radio newsman/commentator Paul Harvey created the original of this homily around 1965. Isn't it interesting how timely this mesage still is?

Aired October 13, 1964
Original text:
If I Were the Devil

If I were the Prince of Darkness I would want to engulf the whole earth in darkness.

I’d have a third of its real estate and four-fifths of its population, but I would not be happy until I had seized the ripest apple on the tree.

So I should set about however necessary, to take over the United States.

I would begin with a campaign of whispers.

With the wisdom of a serpent, I would whisper to you as I whispered to Eve, “Do as you please.”

To the young I would whisper “The Bible is a myth.” I would convince them that “man created God,” instead of the other way around. I would confide that “what is bad is good and what is good is square.”

In the ears of the young married I would whisper that work is debasing, that cocktail parties are good for you. I would caution them not to be “extreme” in religion, in patriotism, in moral conduct.

And the old I would teach to pray — to say after me — “Our father which art in Washington.”

Then I’d get organized.

I’d educate authors in how to make lurid literature exciting so that anything else would appear dull, uninteresting.

I’d threaten TV with dirtier movies, and vice-versa.

I’d infiltrate unions and urge more loafing, less work. Idle hands usually work for me.

I’d peddle narcotics to whom I could, I’d sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction, I’d tranquilize the rest with pills.

If I were the Devil, I would encourage schools to refine young intellects, but neglect to discipline emotions; let those run wild.

I’d designate an atheist to front for me before the highest courts and I’d get preachers to say, “She’s right.”

With flattery and promises of power I would get the courts to vote against God and in favor of pornography.

Thus I would evict God from the courthouse, then from the schoolhouse, then from the Houses of Congress.

Then in his own churches I’d substitute psychology for religion and deify science.

If I were Satan I’d make the symbol of Easter an egg

And the symbol of Christmas a bottle.

If I were the Devil I’d take from those who have and give to those who wanted until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious. Then my police state would force everybody back to work.

Then I would separate families, putting children in uniform, women in coal mines and objectors in slave-labor camps.

If I were Satan I’d just keep doing what I’m doing

~~ Paul Harvey

Elections Have Consequences

I am reminded today of an address to a joint session of Congress by Gerald R. Ford.  On August 12, 1974, Ford said, "A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have".

The American people have made their choice. They have decided that America must change its course, away from the principals of our Founders. And, away from the idea of individual freedom and individual responsibility. Away from capitalism, economic responsibility, and personal acceptance.
In 2008, Eric Cantor went to the White house on day three of President Obama's presidency. At the time, Obama and Democrats had total control of the White House, Senate and House. Cantor tried to share ideas with President Obama for stimulating the economy and creating jobs. When Cantor pushed for small business tax-cuts, President Obama said, "Elections have consequences, and at the end of the day, I won."

You are right Mr. President, you won and the consequences of this election is already unfolding

Stocks took a sharp nosedive in a post-election selloff Wednesday, with the Dow logging its biggest decline in nearly a year, prompted by concerns over the looming “fiscal cliff” and amid renewed worries over Europe’s weak economy.

The Dow closed below 13,000 for the first time since early August, while the S&P 500 broke below 1,400.

Boeing Co. said Wednesday it plans to employ 30% fewer executives at its Boeing Defense, Space & Security unit by the end of 2012 compared to 2010 levels.
In its statement, UtahAmerican Energy blames the Obama administration for instituting policies that will close down “204 American coal-fired power plants by 2014″ and for drastically reducing the market for coal.

A Las Vegas business owner with 114 employees fired 22 workers today, apparently as a direct result of President Obama’s re-election.
Darden Restaurants, the parent company of Red Lobster and The Olive Garden, announced in October that it would downgrade workers to part-time status to limit costs from Obamacare.
We have become a Country that is in favor of redistribution, national weakness and reduced standard of living and lower and lower levels of personal freedom.  Far too many voters do not recognize that government is NOT the solution sadly they don't conteplate their reduced freedom.

Not everyone sees Obama’s reelection as a bad thing.  Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a congratulatory note to President Obama after his re-election.  Isn't that ironic?

A Prayer For Election Day

The Bible says that there is no authority but of God (Romans 13:1). Therefore, we need to pray that God not give us a President that we deserve, but in His mercy, one that will be good for America.

Lord, please give us strength to deal with whatever comes, and to live righteously in Your eyes. I pray that your Spirit will be upon our nation and the people of this nation, and that they vote for the principles of liberty, of moral conscience.

I pray for a healing of our land.  Unite us.  Strengthen us.

Amen

Vote like your future depends upon it because it does.

Clinging To My Bible And My Prayers On Election Eve

Vote wisely November 6th! I am not telling you which party or which candidates to vote for or against. What I am saying is that you need to think and pray very carefully about your vote.
Christians seem to act as if they thought God did not see what they do in politics. He does see it, and He will bless or curse this nation, according to the course they take.
The Bible tells us that "He who rules over men must be just, ruling in the fear of GOD. A ruler is accountable to GOD for what he does. A ruler leads and rules under the eye of the all-seeing GOD of heaven.
The individuals who hold the presidency and Senate and Congressional seats will make decisions that impact the rest of the world. Whether those decisions help or harm the people of the world is largely determined by the choices that Americans make at the polls tomorrow. We need to pray that our choices will serve to bless the world.
The Bible commands us to pray for those who are in leadership. That's why I pray for both candidates every night. I pray that the next person to occupy the office of President will bring to this position wisdom and effectiveness. I also pray that once that person is elected he will seek GOD's counsel in everything.
Pray for American voters to recognize the profound, lasting implication of major elections. Pray for voters to have the wisdom to see through political rhetoric and clearly understand truth. Pray for evil to be exposed and integrity to be revealed. Pray that all voters will hear and follow God’s guidance, not political parties or human reasoning.
Above all else pray that the results of the 2012 elections will please the Lord and release His blessing over this nation.

Public Service Announcement - Vote November 6th

"Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual--or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country. "

Samuel Adams, The Writings of Samuel Adams, Harry Alonzo Cushing, editor (New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1907), Vol. IV, p. 256.

"In selecting men for office, let principle be your guide. Regard not the particular sect or denomination of the candidate--look to his character. "

Noah Webster, Letters to a Young Gentleman Commencing His Education to Which is Subjoined a Brief History of the United States (New Haven: S. Converse, 1823), p. 18.

Bad officials are elected by good citizens who do not vote.  Make sure you VOTE November 6th

Biden's A Gaffe Machine

Was it a gaffe or was he being brutally honest? If I remember correctly, during the debate when Paul Ryan made the dig on him for mis-statements he chimed in and said that he always said what he meant… so I say take him at his word… he meant it.

I don't blame you one bit Joe! Hang in there, only a few more days left!

You've got to love Joe though he's a modest man, who has much to be modest about.

You Picked A Fine Time To Lead Us Barack

This is a parody of "You Picked a Fine Time to Leave Me, Lucille" by Kenny Rogers. Written and sung by Jonathan McWhite. Guitar accompaniment by David McWhite

I suppose that I should take Obama's advice and remember that the voting is the best revenge.
