Michael Jackson's Funeral

Today it was almost wall to wall coverage of the Michael Jackson funeral. One commentator mentioned that the circus was coming to town as the hearse began its trip to the Staples Center. I felt that was disrespectful. Funny thing was, later that day I found out the circus actually was coming to town and they had to do the march of the elephants very early that day so that it wouldn't cause problems with traffic or the ceremony itself.

While the talent that was showcased at the funeral was amazing, the most touching aspect of the whole ceremony happened when his daughter spoke. This man, Michael Jackson, was the only father she had ever known. As far as anyone knows she does not have a relationship with her mother. What a sad little girl and one definitely has to wonder how this will eventually impact his children.

Sales of Michael Jackson's albums in the past few days have given him the unique role of having the top nine best selling albums. I even bought three of my favorite Jackson 5 songs this morning.

One would wish that this would end and allow the relatives time to grieve. The fact is that the news is using his death as a ratings game. Some newscasters openly complain about all the coverage but justify it because if they don't cover the story they will lose ratings.
