Suspected Child Abductor Kills Himself

Sometimes a strange thought comes to my mind and I try to shake it. That is the case with Alisa Maier.

I was thrilled to see that Alisa Maier was found alive. When my husband asked me if they found they man who abducted her, I said that they hadn't. Almost the second those words came out of my mouth I thought, "He will probably kill himself because he knows that there is no way out for him."

Now obviously there are hundreds of child molesters out there and they don't kill themselves. It was just a strange thought that kind of stayed with me for about an hour or so.

By no stretch of the imagination am I psychic but sometimes a hunch screams out at me and I will have no earthly clue as to why it happens.

I set about running my errands and doing my chores and when I checked the news I found out that there is now an update in this case.

St. Louis County Police confirm for KMOX News that the person of interest in the Alisa Maier child abduction case shot and killed himself as he was approached by police in Lincoln County on Highway D. A police spokesman tells KMOX that they have also located a car matching the description of the suspect's vehicle but police are stopping short of calling him the abductor.

His name is said to be Paul Sterling Smith. Smith is a convicted sex offender who was released from jail a few weeks ago on drug charges. In 1995 he pleaded guilty to sodomy with a 10-year-old and was sentenced to 15 years in jail.

Sadly once again we threw open the prison doors to allow another child to be abused.
